Fightin’ Bigger Folks Week 3

Let's start playing this strategically now…

Fights, like gambling, are all about percentages. There's no one on earth who can win 100 percent of the time; it's just not possible. Even the best fighter in the world can get caught with that one random punch and go to sleep.

The idea is to maximize the your chances of winning, while minimizing your chances of losing.  If your strategy, just like a game of chess, is good enough to lead you to victory 98% of the time, you're going to win a lot of fights.

In reality, at that "win-rate", you'll probably never lose.

One of the best ways to improve the probability of your victories is by putting some extra focus on Attack Angles.

The more you fight directly in front of your opponent, the more likely you are to get hit... the more you get hit, the more you lose.

Do damage without getting hit... that's what this week is all about

.. and other stuff.

First, let's add one more little attack to your Distance Closing Movements which will help us lead into our angle changes with a little more distraction... and pain... for our opponents.

Let's add one little distraction and a little bit more damage before taking our angle.

Now that we've touched on Penguin Punching...

There's a lot of stuff that goes into winning a fight... truly.  Many trainees start to feel overwhelmed when introducing the true amount of stuff that goes into a great fighting strategy.

The trick is allowing your body to move into an intuitive flow in which it moves YOU through the movements... not the other way around.

Sometimes just looking at the way that your body wants to move will simplify something that previously seemed complex.

This video will teach you how your weight distribution while moving in will make some fighting decisions for you.

We will be blending a blend such things.

At this point...

You honestly know enough about angle taking to practice for months. These movements don't come easy for some people, but they always come with enough focus.  If you're getting it no problem, how explosive can you make it?

Moving forward, we're going to assume that you've taken your angle, and now it's time to do as much damage as possible (or potentially go for your takedown).

We have another week before we start covering takedowns... so let's just club on the guys head and body for a little bit.

Two quick and tricky hooks...

This is a fantastic example of how leveraging technique and body dynamics can contribute to power and fluidity.

Now this final video...

Introduces you to the gift that keeps on giving.  This logic-defying device will generate brand new work-outs, consisting of diabolical combinations, any time you visit the page.  Bookmark the magic.

This little stroke of genius-ness will give you a lifetime supply of challenging, and skill enhancing workouts.

This video explains the absolute need to take a good attack angle, and shows you how to use a U-Slip to get there.

...and I'll toss in one more lesson this week... just because it only took me like 10 minutes to make this video, which never seems to happen anymore.

This video is going to fix a Google+ member's uppercuts, and make all of us just a little bit more vicious.

Key Takeaways:

In the Realm of Footwork:

The ability for you to 'Freestyle' your movement is ridiculously important.

Sometimes do it 'in place'... without moving your feet.
Sometimes express yourself via lateral movement and angle changes in conjunction with your head movement.
Sometimes start slips and then abandon them.  Have a little fun with it.

Horse Stance

Is a great way to build strength and flexibility in your legs.  This will make it easy for you to drop down into your thighs to get underneath punches, without taxing your groin or hamstrings.

Your feet remain parallell
Pull your tailbone underneath you, trying to point your hypothetical D up at the ceiling
Sink down until it hurts... and stay there.

U Slip Plyometrics

...will use your downward force when 'landing' to trick your body into firing a more powerful counter movement on the way back up.  The more powerfully you fire your muscles, the more power you shall build.

When combined with Horse Stance, this is one of the best ways to make your U-Slips effortlessly powerful.

If the following doesn’t make sense to you, watch this video on Slipping to the Left on your Left vs Right Foot.

Straight Slips

On these slips, you will move only one of your feet.  You will bounce that foot immediately back to your stance.

Your will be transferred to the foot on the same side that your head is slipping.  So, if your is moving to the left, your weight will be transferred into the left foot.

50 Straight Slips, Head Moving To the Left, Stepping on your Left Foot and bouncing it back to your stance.

50 Straight Slips, Head Moving To the Left, Stepping on your Right Foot and bouncing it back to your stance.

50 Straight Slips, Head Moving To the Right, Stepping On your Left Foot and bouncing it back to your stance.

50 Straight Slips, Head Moving To the Right, Stepping On your Right Foot and bouncing it back to your stance.

More Straight Slips

On the following slips, you will move BOTH of your feet, thus bringing your entire stance underneath you... instead of just bouncing the foot back to your stance.

If you are slipping to the LEFT, you will take a LEFT then RIGHT replacement step.  (Don't "Overdrag" your step.  Keep a nice wide base)!
