  1. Hi Trav
I am really enjoying your videos. Love the content and instruction, taking it slow but trying to adopt the techniques to my muscle memory daily. Who says you can’t teach an old dog new tricks.
    Thanks
    Mike

  2. Love the baboon “research team” bit. Hilarious. Do you do any clinics or personal coaching – say one or two day or maybe a week type of training?

  3. Repeatable with success against someone with training but it was the right move for that guy in that specific instance and it was fun to watch. Thanks for sharing.

  4. Sweeeet I have just laughed my bollocks of(almost)for 2.50 secs thank you and nice one. Better to laugh for even a small amount of time than not so yes I enjoy your stuff keep it up its all good!

    • ummm…..no. not for a typical attack. if you catch someone off guard maybe, but once airborn ( imagine wile e coyote holding up an “oh s***” sign ) you’re pretty much committed to that attack….

  5. Backwards cradle fosho!
Hey Travis, good job brother , I like what you’re doing. Anything to get youngsters off the tube any lean how to be a man.
I’m turning 60 this year along with Randy, gotta admit he’s THE baddest 60 year old on Earth . You think you can take a geriatric?
    Love ya,

  6. I really enjoy your teaching! It seems you get straight to the meat and potatoes of what works. Especially the technique where you drop six inches off the line, while doing the shoulder pop. However, what do you think about incorporating into that technique, instead of countering with a punch (although I do understand sometimes you have to just strike hard and stop the attacker) but doing sort of a akido move, where you catch the arm during their strike, using triangle stance, and using their momentum to throw them away from you so you can run away if possible. Or use same technique meantined to very quickly change the attackers direction using their motion and energy against them. I have been practicing this and it really seems to be effective. What are your thoughts on this? If you can make sense of my horrible summary here hahaha. Thank you

    • I studied Aikido for years then realised a lot of it doesn’t work for one simple reason: the move relies on the attacker feeling pain. Assuming they started the fight, they’re probably drunk/on drugs/mentally ill/have had a violent upbringing. None of these people are going to react in the expected way. Just my 2 cents. I might be wrong, but there are definitely better ways.

  7. Trav,.
I have been watching your videos for awhile now and not commented or done much. Other than had a real to life situation occur a few nights ago, the actual reason you make these videos and everything you do for self defense (besides money of course) ?. On a real note, there is a definite passion in you towards martial arts MMA, self defense and wanting to teach others what you urself have learned over your 15+ years in MMA. That alone shows in your work and videos and inspires just enough to believe this stuff works and anyone can do it and shit will happen no matter who you are and it’s better to know something than know absolutely nothing. And as for myself in my situation, it happened so fast and was over so quick it seemed, after it was done and I was left standing over this guy looking down and around processing what had just happened. I was confronted in a threatening and violent manner, which lead to the situation escalating to a physical level real quick and me reacting and handling myself without even thinking or planning just reacting like a basic reflect. As I process what happened I realize I did it all just off watching your videos and others over and over again taking it all in and practising on and with my buddies after a few beers or just to actually practise for skill. It’s hard to believe that what I’ve learned and a actually applied the other night came from you and your videos and others over time but still, basically all from videos. Thank you for having the passion for MMA and compassion for others and they’re safety and will to protect themselves against all the “BACKWARDS BACKPACK CRADLE FOLDING SLEEPER HOLD” practising bullys and self proclaimed MMA stars ? out in the world today……
