  1. Morning Mr. Trev! ?
Happy February, Sir. To you and your family. Cause as we know families are important but I’m here to share that an ” Eternal Family” is a beautiful blessing. Much Love, My Brother..
    Sincerely, Mr. Velez ( Rafael)

P.S. Your a Great Roll Model In My Book.?

  2. I’m at a loss, I thought when someone is at that level his or her skills are tight and on point. I blame his trainers because it’s their job to make sure that you operate at the highest levels. ??

    • Really agree his 1 2 is the best it is what helped him beat Conor the 1st time but his defense is terribly lacking Inalways felt Nick was a better fighter, and had it not been for Nate’s chin HD would lose more often.

  3. As a coach for multiple sports I think I see how Nate Diaz wins. He is good in a sloppy long distance fight and gets better strikers to play that game with him. A sloppy Opponent that can pull you down to their level can be dangerous.

  4. I made a joke about Nate Diaz’s striking coach be a wacky waving inflatable tube thing, but watching the gif I realized the tube has better head movement :/

        • Guida. Noticed that too.

I never thought Diaz’s standup was technically strong, but he doesn’t let opponents breath. He doesn’t stop with the pressure and has cardio for days. Based on his personality it truly seems his goal is to embarrass people with how many times he can hit you. A point fighting slap boxer intended to crush egos??
He also can take a punch and has better BJJ than you give credit for.

          • On the contrary, I give his BJJ a lot of credit, as well as his ability to take a punch!

My only claim is that his stand up is horrible.

        • Why are you encouraging people to issue challenges that would never be accepted. The dude fought McGregor and Masvidal. You think he cares about us?

      • That was definitely Clay Guida and not Ben Henderson. Aside from the hair, Benson has different body art and it black.

  5. I think your analysis has some merit. I also think it’s worth noting that Nate Diaz has beat up a multitude of badass fighters over the years. Some of his slips are nearly imperceptible with very slight movements that seem to negate much of the opponent’s power. If you ever had a boxing match with Nate the subtleties of his game would be most likely frustrating.

    • I agree that he would prove to be frustrating, but I’m not sure there’s a lot of subtlety to his style. It’s max length on a 1-2 and then a quick rear slip. I’d like to see him pull this with a larger fighter backing him up.

  6. Nate Diaz is doing exactly what he wants to do in the octagon. He wasn’t trained poorly; He just personally doesn’t care. He used to run marathons for fun, & he’s modified that endurance into his octagon stamina, therefore he can go 5 rounds with any top 10 UFC fighter, regardless of how horrible his technique is. Most of his opponents see all of his glaring bad habits and expend energy engaging Diaz. By round 3, their power meter has diminished enough for Nate to either ride the fight out, or do whatever he wants. He doesn’t mind getting punched and kicked, he just likes to trade & rely on his endless stamina & endurance. Of course, Masvidal sent him to the hospital (probably), and this is a prime example of the point you’re making about his horrible fighting style, but notice how he took that beating for 3 rounds and didn’t go down, the doctor had to step in & stop the fight. Those liver shots & body kicks & blows, over & over again, were excruciating to watch, and may have even put his fighting future in jeopardy, but he is who he is, he fights the way he fights, and he’s been able to eek out a highly lucrative career. To this day, he can still potentially beat any top 10 fighter in his range of weight divisions, due to his endurance & stamina, alone; Except for Masvidal. He definitely needs to stay away from Masvidal, from now on…(BTW, full disclosure, I wouldn’t last 2 minutes in an octagon, with any serious MMA fighter, man, or woman…)

      • I want to see Diaz in the ring with Anthony Joshua. The UFC (and other MMA event holders) is full of average strikers.

      • Trav,

Credit to you and Mr Gant for your analyses here. How about a series of similar videos of ‘how to give yourself your best chance’ against someone who is – and almost certainly always will be – better than you at another aspect of MMA, however much you train your own weakness in that area?
