  1. Looks a lot like what Danny Inosanto and Richard Bustillo were doing forty years ago. Good stuff, don’t get me wrong. Make me wish i had kept up with Kali.

  2. I dunno, I’m not sure this was really ‘calling out’. It seemed more like simply a directed counter-supposition.
I’m also not sure he really even refuted any of your points. He just seemed to assert ‘this stuff totally can work…if you drill it enough and then dissect it and then apply it in intelligent live-sparring and then…’. I’m not sure that’s as strong a case as he thinks it is.

  3. I totally get what this man is saying for a knife fight. And I also believe if you drill it thousands of times, you’d get better at it.

However, Trav is talking about knife defense, not knife fight.

There is NO art in violence and everything works in the demo.

More steps to remember, longer a decision-making process becomes, which will NOT help you when someone is attacking you with a knife.

And you’d get injured when you train knife defense with real pressure, that’s expected. So, wear protective gear to practice otherwise why would you just drill it and trying to gently stub someone?

An attacker is either a psychopath, sociopath, an extreme narcissist, high, or possessed with unbelievable force. Nothing goes as you imagined and yes… as someone said, you might be able to pull it out after 40-50 years of dedication (and you may still fail).

  4. Jeez the guy with the bandanna is a pretentious shit. At the end explaining about the tragedy of a civilian getting injured blah blah blah. Of course, there’s no tragedy in sending you out to fight a knife attacker with bullshit techniques.
His entire video is a strawman about flow drills. This community is built on this stuff, just like wing chun.
He doesn’t address the specific moves that get debunked. Instead he try’s to gain favour by talking about special forces.
    Sanctimonious prat.

  5. I see the choreographed knife dancing training to be used in an advanced training setting but for the average gun toting red blooded American man like me, I prefer the K.I.S.S. rule. Someone that assaults me with a knife I want distance and then defense with the distance I create. Thanks for “keeping it simple” Trav. That’s why I enjoy your practical teaching.

  6. I’d say that was a blatant act of egoic insecurity. Hence forth him scoffing Travis’ work and taking a cheap shot. It may seem as though BUNKer-Tactical is worried about their sales instead of real truth’s perhaps that’s why he always states ” I work with swat to give himself more credibility.” I’ve came across many of “teachers” like that in my studies and they only to seem wish to mentally manipulate their students to gain income. I never had my Sensei or Ajan’s bullshit me from situational awareness to weapon’s . And both teachers have been in war zones and fought. Y’all should put principal to test and see which will hold water.

  7. Honestly I wonder how often those people actually use their skills to defend from knife attacks because the stuff they showed looked a bit impractical. It all seemed to miss that basic bit of having been repeatedly used against someone who is doing everything they possibly can to not let it work and to stab the shit out of them. I could be wrong.
