  1. I get where they´re coming from, drilling is a very important part of training in any martial art. What they do is like what one does in dutch drills in Kickboxing, one partner attacks and the other receives the combination. Although it’s obvious that in a real competition or sparring one would not simply stand there to be hit, but that doesn’t mean that the drills aren’t useful, they teach you mechanics, movement, reaction patterns, how to lay out offensive combinations, etc. I believe Kali is similar in that regard, but they do not address the nonsense defenses that you show on your course Trav. Some of the defenses that you show, which may come from Kali, Krav Maga, Aikido or whatever, are laughable as the probabilities of their success are ridiculously low. Still, I don´t think the various schools of Kali are bad, in the contrary, I think they have fantastic techniques, but like the host of the video says, one must question everything in the pursuit of the truth, and there is no denying that there are some parts in the curriculum that are questionable. That is what I think of this. I´m looking forward to your response Trav, I think that respectful debates in the martial arts community are important so that we learn to understand each other’s point of view. Have a fantastic day.

    • Industrial marker is better. Make it red while they wear white long sleeves rash guard or shirt so the slashes and stabs are visible. Have it on several cameras from different angles so all the moves can be analyzed.

  2. Trav and the team are the only ones I’ve seen with real life situation video evidence (security cameras from various sources) included in their videos, therefore supporting their own claims made with un-deniable material. I’m stoked for this video retribution Trav!!!

  3. Least convincing ‘call out’ ever 😂 It’s like they have no self awareness of what they’re doing. No data, no research, it’s mostly self defense theatre. Looks like you kicked the hornet nest man. Good job, this important topic has gone unscrutinized long enough, and these (hopefully) well intentioned folks have been teaching bad techniques long enough. Definitely appreciate all the work you’ve put into this.

  4. Isn’t the point to train like you fight? So why spend time doing drills that you would never use in a fight? I understand his argument that it’s foundational, but that’s a pretty messed up foundation if you can’t even use it. You can pickup good footwork practicing real skills. More repetition is not necessarily better if you’re repeating techniques that can’t be used.

  5. This didn’t seem like a call-out to me. It’s more like he was saying, “Let me explain…” as opposed to him saying something like, “Trav is full of bleep”

I think it’s reasonable for them to defend their training methods by explaining them in this manner, and I don’t think it necessarily equates to calling you out.

But I suppose there’s also nothing wrong with building a little bit of a rivalry for marketing purposes, if that’s what you’re going for here.

  6. And the term is…Straw Man Argument
    It’s a three step attack
    1. Misrepresent what was claimed
    2. Attack that claim
    3. Do a victory dance, beat your chest and celebrate by snorting coke off the butts of supermodel hookers
    Job done
