In today's email, instead of teaching your clever ways to be strategically violent, I'd like to do more of a heartwarming bit... loosely based on martial arts.
I introduce to you a Pittsburg based boxing coach named Jack Mook... he will show us not how to punch or dodge, but instead how to be less-crappy people.
As a side note, Jack has good head-movement... and that makes me like him even more.
Jack trained two young brothers, (ages 11 and 15) at Steel City Gym in Pittsburgh, as part of a non-profit program to mentor kids in poverty. When both brothers suddenly stopped showing up at the gym, Jack (also a full-time detective) went to find out why.
He found them in an abusive home covered in fleas, with no beds and rotting teeth... icky business.
What he does to save them is pretty darn heroic.

This segment brought my attention to the fact that I am a way crappier person than a lot of other folks. I think that good people make it a point to "do good" regularly. This must be why I'm so grumpy... HUMBUG!
My buddy Stuart Bryant owns the BIG gym where you see some of my stuff filmed. It's a great spot, and he's never asked me for a single cent in exchange for using his facility to make videos for you guys.
He also started a charitable non-profit program where he teaches martial arts and fitness to autistic kids. I sat in on one of the classes, and it's heart warming to see how much these kids benefit from a little physical activity.
Needless to say, it's a cool program, it's run by a great guy, and it's martial arts oriented... so I'd like to support it.
If you feel like doing something good today, of just want to alleviate the feeling that you've been a crappy person lately...
I hope today's stuff inspires you to keep your eye out for opportunities to be more than just a martial artist. I believe that we should all strive to be heroes whenever possible.
