It has long been a Thanksgiving tradition that I eat food until I’m in physical pain… and then my confused body tries to sweat it back into the environment.
Stupid confused body...
It has also become a long standing tradition, that I turn this overindulgence into pure, unadulterated power… to the best of my ability.
Most of us are going to flood our bodies with protein today...
...and we will ingest far more calories than we can possibly expend.
Let’s give this protein somewhere useful to go, and give these calories something productive to do!
Every Thanksgiving, 45 minutes after a LIGHT breakfast, I do a full body workout. I hit every single muscle group just about as hard as I can.
There are several goals:
Goal #1. I want every muscle cell in my body to enter a state of 'need'. I want my muscle fibers to be recovering from mictro-trauma, and I want them to be desperate for the protein inherent in multiple turkey legs.
Goal #2. I want to completely deplete my glycogen stores (stored glucose from carbohydrates). When I eat the sweet potatoes and pie, I want these carbs to be restoring my depleted glycogen levels.
Goal #3. I want to dramatically improve the INSULIN SENSITIVITY in my skeletal muscle. Insulin is the anabolic hormone that will be STORING all of these macronutrients... so, if my muscle cells have 'up-regulated' their insulin receptors, my fat cells are less likely to receive all of the goods.
If we’re going to eat like gluttons, let’s be powerful gluttons.
SO…
I have hand picked two workouts for you, from the Tubes of You.
Both require no equipment... so you have no excuse. You can follow along and do either of them wherever you stand.
That's where they got all of their cool guns... so maybe we can get some too.
It will take about 20 minutes.
This one will take about 10 minutes.
I found myself to be more inspired when looking at her buns.
I really don't love her form on the plyometrics...
I really don't love exercising in a mild state of arousal...
But hey... it's Turkey Day. Let's get weird.
More importantly... LET'S BECOME POWERFUL.
Hey... Happy Thanksgiving!
I'm truly thankful to have you as a member here at Fight Smart!
May your day be joyous and fantastic.
