  1. THANK YOU!!!!! Been saying this guys boxing was shit for years. He has no idea how to pop either. Just pushes. Its hard to watch.

  2. Great way to start the morning.. laughing like theres no tomorrow.
I’m not the best striker either but I have power. But I think that Nate believes that when he punches his 1,2, hell just roll his head out of the way of the next punch and hell be okay. Whereas if you have strict form with punching then you usually dont move your head as much. And that’s where he creates volume while being elusive. But… I guess that’s what happens when you put a triathlon/jujitsu specialist in MMA. He could be a much more effective with the correct coaching.

  3. Are you serious? Nate has fought and beat some of the best fighters in the world. His striking is definitely not technical, but he has a very long reach and throws a huge volume of punches. It works for him. It’s more effective to land 10 strikes with poor technique than none with proper technique.

    • Volume is just about the only thing that Nate is bringing to the table. If he cared enough to train under a dedicated coach, he could actually be good at this.

        • 2 and 1. I got outwrestled in my third pro fight and lost via split decision. I also never lost a Muay Thai smoker and was Eddie Alvarez’s sparring partner, every time he had a taller opponent. What’s your record? As a coach, if my students punched like Nate Diaz, I would be embarrassed.

    • I’ve always said Nate is a horrible boxer. All he has is a long reach, an attrition boxing strategy and a 1-2….his jits is ridiculous though. How people say his a good boxer is beyond my comprehension. Fighters need to evolve, even Arturo Gatti had to walk away from his brawling ways and learn to box. If Nate expects any longevity to his career going forward he’ll need to change up his game.

      • I did watch the video. Ever hear of a guy named rocky marciano? Horrible technique but was undefeated. What I’m saying is Nate may be sloppy by design. What he does works for HIM, but probably wouldn’t work for most other fighters. Try to turn Nate into a technical purist and he might suck. Btw, I’m not really a Nate fan. Just sayin.

        • You’re talking about “The Perfect Punch” Rocky Marciano? Because actually I heard that he threw the most perfect right hand ever thrown against Joe Walcott…

  4. I feel so validated right now. I’ve always thought that Nate’s success is based entirely on the fact that he is near-impossible to knock out, and therefore completely willing to just wade through any damage coming his way. This is what makes him especially potent against a knockout artist like McGregor, who depends on being able to use your attempts to avoid damage to put you into the position he needs for the knockout shot.

That said, it’s also a sobering reminder for those of use who love technique that a good chin and a DGAF attitude can get you surprisingly far in a fight.

  5. That was some great color commentary. I would guess that his coaches would view this stuff with him so why doesn’t he improve.
Nate needs to buy your full program. And all the fighters shown need your head movement video.
You smoke too much weed it can affect some of your skills I think also. Nate buys his weed by the bushel.
Watching old Trav throw those combos from a chair I would not want to be on the receiving end of those guns.
Why does Trav always sound like he has a stuffed nose?

  6. Isn’t it odd that his striking is unsound but he beat so many good fighters. I get the critique I just don’t understand , if he so bad, why is he so…good? It’s almost an argument for how amazing and tough he is despite himself (and poor hook ability)

I genuinely hope you give your input on this Trav.

    • He has great cardio, for one… so he can continue pressing forward. He also tolerates abuse and punches well, so he just walks through shots. The other 99% of it is the inability for his opponents to counter a 1-2 combo.
