Hey! Have a fun combo.

I shall demo it for you.

So this week, I would just like to share with you the start of a nasty combination... the full version will soon be featured in my 8 Devastating Combinations course.

(I also just realized for the first time... that kid is just eating sand).

Anyhow, this is a nice little 4 piece combo with some head movement and an angle change around an orthodox opponent's lead hand... which moves you away from the power hand.

Click here to have a look at me throwing it...

(We can take continue to take that angle, and do a lot more damage.)

A few features:

This is a rear hand lead.  So if your last 5 combos have all started with a lead-hand jab, it's probably time to shake it up a bit and throw something like this.

(Unless you're fighting an idiot and your repeated left hand leads are working swell.)

Additionally, if your opponent has been constantly trying to counter immediately after your first punch, the slip to the right should make that miss, and open up a very quick counter cross of your own.

After the second cross, a hinge step with your right foot should keep you moving around the man's front shoulder, and again away from his power hand, while also setting up a nice hook to the body.

A Tip:

PULL SOME POWER OFF OF THE BODY HOOK if your real goal is to hit the guy with the final cross that follows it.  You will have a split second with his hands lower after a body shot... you better squeeze that punch in quick!

If you try to rip way through on the hook, the cross is going to be tougher to sneak through... so choose your weapon and taper off accordingly.

A critique of my own form that perhaps we can all learn from:

I'm definitely lifting my chin on the lead right cross.  I need to focus more on looking through my eyebrows when I throw that one.

One could make the case that my right hand needs to be held higher when I'm slipping to the right.  In my defense, my focus is on the speed of the next cross in the combo. If I cover my head, that next cross won't be hitting as quick, or as hard.

I should definitely be covering my head better during that hinge-step when I'm moving to the right for the hook.  I can cover my for at least a few milliseconds before putting my hand in position to throw the final cross, if I'm again focused on that punch.

I'll be getting reps of that this week.

And hey, this is one great way to get better, all by yourself.

Take one combination, and do it 30 times on a bag.  Film it.  What are you doing wrong?  What can you do better?

Two days later, do it again, and focus on fixing your errors.  Film it again.  Is it perfect?   If not, refocus your efforts, and do it yet again.

After 1,000 or so correct reps, you won't have to think about it anymore... the combo will flow perfectly.

If you don't know what you should be doing differently, that's where I come in.  I love reviewing video and helping people to unlock power.

Anyhow, write down this combo, and get to work.

A Quick Thank You...

(I'd also like to thank my buddy Drew from Society Boxing in Downingtown PA for holding mitts for me, and for being a rock-solid coach.

I may or may not be getting ready to beat the crap out of someone in a professional setting... and he's letting me punch his hands as hard as I can, several times per week.

For zero dollars.

If you've ever held mitts for someone who hits hard, you know that it's a legitimate physical sacrifice.  So if, perhaps, you would like to see me destroy another human being with my gloved hands, please click on this link and leave Society Boxing a 5 star Google review for his exceptional mitt holding and generosity.

He is supporting me in bringing you something spectacular.  Let's support him as well.

...and have a fantastic weekend!
