  1. Honestly, the thief got a free out of prison card, by doing the “ostrich technique” in exchange of some ridiculously weak “ass slam” from a skinny guy. That’s much, much better than having to pay time and money to the system. I would even go to say it’s less degrading to have a YT video having your ass kicked than to spend a day treated as a criminal.

But it is still an assault.

The thing here is …I think both, thief and bike owner, prefered this outcome, but the owner is now in a worst position legally speaking.

    Short story from similar experience:
I was working in a restaurant, used my bike to go, left it chained near the tables out in the terrace so the waiters could watch it (I was in kitchen).
The waiters cough a thief, he started crying saying he had a family and so and so…
We decided to scare him instead of calling the police, I knew his “crying” was fake so I made him cry for real when I took some pliers and started looking for golden teeths inside his mouth.
He had a few, I think he was a gypsy. Oh he was so scared!. That was more than enough for a punishment IMHO, and we probably did his alleged family a favor.

  2. When I was a prosecutor we would get petty theft cases like this where the criminal got a major ass whoopin. Generally, when this happened we would cut the criminal a break. The victim saved the criminal and the taxpayers a lot of hassle.

  3. Later that day…
    Brother: What happened to you??
Rider: I got my ass kicked
Brother: oh… I forgot to tell you I stole the bike for your birthday ?
    Rider: ?
Owner: that’ll teach him never to steal again
Moral of the story… life is a bitch, live with it

  4. I’m proud of the number of “savages” who called this out for what it was, a bully exacting excessive revenge. We affectionately and jokingly call ourselves savages, but I think those who strive to learn the controlled use of necessary violence to protect what’s right might be better termed warriors. I was a cop in SoCal for a little over 33 years and dealt with plenty of savages- those with no civility, control, or compassion. I’ve HAD to hurt people to the gravest extreme. Because I studied and trained and prepared for it, I was effective, but took no joy in it.
Speaking of cops. Where are the protests and demands for justice in this instance. Where antifa demanding a full investigation and prison time for this guy. Had this been a cop who had tossed even a couple extra blows for a much more serious offense, they would certainly be marching and protesting. I guess this just doesn’t fit their agenda.

  5. I agree that the stomper seems out of control.
BUT I’m happy the thief got his ass kicked.
This way he’ll think twice or three times before he steals another bike.
Calling the cops would do nothing besides waste two officers time. The thief would get away with no punishment and would definitely steal again.

This way he realizes that life ain’t a free ride and sometimes you get your ass kicked.

Again, I agree that mindless violence, especially the kind that st happens for mistakes or non-crimes (like cutting a guy off etc) is terrible, but in this case it was totally deserved.

  6. Jerry…so what your saying (as a former prosecutor you claim)….REALLY lay down the beating because the courts will feel sorry for them. We should take extra shots because they will go free when their defense lawyer gives a sob story on how they were beat up…..Thank You, I’ll get extra shots in next time!!!!

  7. As civilised citizen, I feel the beating went tolong. as a bike owner, and of course victim of theft, I enjoyed the beating.

    • I agree with you Ken, that this is excessive. I hate to hear the wife and kids in the background laughing. Its disgusting. But, regarding your last comment…this altercation in the video is a lot different from a situation between cops and civilians. When cops “toss extra blows” (or worse) on people, but they always have the backing of the law in their favor. Many cops are cool, and like you, do not take joy in violence. Other cops however do indeed take joy in it and know they can generally get away with it. Certainly these 2 cultures exist within police forces. The protests you mention are generated by the second kind of police behavior.

  8. That was not an over the top beating for stealing a bike. I have seen worse in MMA before the ref steps in. If weapons were used and the thief was seriously injured, it would still be OK
