A Nigerian Street-Boxer Becomes My Hero...
I have no idea what's going on in today's video. Apparently they have boxing tournaments on the streets of Nigeria.
I don't even know if this is in Nigeria. I just named the first African country that came to mind and hoped that no one would do any research.
But today, the twig-like teenage fellow in this video earned my eternal respect. He is a warrior.
In this fight, he faces a far more muscular, older, and impressively athletic opponent... relying on pure skill in the melee, AND a healthy dose of head movement.
Sweet, sweet head movement; used both offensively and defensively.
It's everything that I've been preaching for the past 8 years... without the kicks, or knees, or the clinch, or takedowns, or leg locks. So, it's a fraction of what I've been preaching, but he does that fraction incredibly well.
Like a mathematician who only knows the Pythagorean Theorem. Every punched dodged is a properly assessed hypotenuse.
He's going places. I hope that they have air conditioning in those places.
