  1. I’ve heard people say I took the knife off them , the truth is if you can take a knife off someone they never meant to use , this is a brutal truth of someone meaning to use a knife and the consequences of being stupid around them

  2. That was very sad. It was also eye opening to how vulnerable our bodies are.

P.s. I’ve studied your knife course carefully. In my life
I’ve learned knife technique from many so-called “masters” and “grandmasters”, and you’re the best martial artist I’ve ever learned from because you are truly realistic in your thought and technique. Including the reality of any retreat whatsoever not being an option when you’re a family man.
Thought I praise ya one more time for what you’re doing for people. You’re the real deal Holyfield. A real life master. And I appreciate what you’ve taught me very much.
P.s.s. Please keep posting these hard to watch videos because they really do help to remind me that no matter how invincible I feel, if the time comes, I have to fight smart.
    Thanks Trav

  3. Very graphic. I’m a survivor of a knife attack, about 15yrs ago. I was conered no where to run. I tried running into an office and locking the door, but the key was not in the lock, so I had no choice but to face the guy who was now approaching from the only exit. Fortunately I had some martial arts training as a teenager and I never thought I was that good. He attacked by lifting his knife hand up and stabbing down aiming for my chest. I defended by crossing my arms and blocking his arm between the elbow and the wrist. That happened 3 times before I could grab his arm and disarm him. I got cut but he ended up in ICU cause I kicked his head into the wall. Thanks for the best videos and lessons.

  4. One stab to the neck and the poor guy is done. Blood everywhere. He didn’t even try to cover up as he approached the knife wielder. Waste of life. You are right on with your outlook. How do you run when you have your kids with you? You can’t. You have to take a stand. Thanks for your advice, Trav.

  5. Great lesson at horrible expense. Another important thing to point out is how effective a weapon a knife can be.

If you carry one and pull it out you should be prepared to catch a case, manslaughter or even murder.

That butterfly knife you bought at a gas station for $13.99 could land you in jail or have you turning over half your paycheck to a lawyer for the rest of your life.

One of my students said that if you pull a weapon to keep from getting beaten up, you could end up in jail facing getting beaten up by even scarier guys, everyday for the next 10 years.

  6. Its just a tiny blade.
I’m not afraid of no tiny blade.
Thank you for sharing this most powerful lesson.
I have never seen such a power lesson in the importance of not underestimating a weapon of any size.
…and the wisdom of not pursuing someone who is willing to back off.

  7. A belt, a shoe, a shirt anything, what a waste. He just walked into range of a guy who had a knife and was obviously willing to use it, and he did it twice. His situational awareness was absent, his reaction came after he was stabbed.
