Today's email has a dual meaning... because after uploading a new video to the ol' YouTube channel, everyone welcomed me back!
Except... I never went anywhere.
I've spent the last two years in a dark hole, slaving over a new training program that I believe will change the way that people approach stand-up fighting.
"It shall be released first thing in the New Year!" -actually said by me... two years ago.
But now it's finally complete.
The first video of the free mini-course (and the entire full course) will be released on New Year's Day, so you can actually get in shape while becoming diabolically powerful in the stand-up fighting arts (instead of suffering for a half hour on a treadmill and then eating three mini-muffins which instantly negate every meaningless calorie that you just burned... while listening to Creed.)
But that's not what this email is about!
And I actually like Creed.
I came upon this fight recently between Jelte Blommaert and Gouzhen Li... and it's one of the greatest comebacks I've ever seen. (I've taken the liberty of fast forwarding it to the final round, but you're welcome to watch the entire fight. )
Jelte Blommeart's name sounds exactly the way that he looks... like a red-headed step-child who took a life of beatings under the staircase where his bitter parents stuffed him.
But man... this guy has some heart in his soulless gingery body.
Now... I've seen a lot of comebacks. I remember when Danny Williams dislocated his shoulder in the final round of his fight against Mark Potter, and fought with one arm dangling by the soft tissue that attached it to his body.
I remember when Chael Sonnen completely destroyed Anderson Silva for four full rounds, until he had an egregious misunderstanding of the rules and tapped out to a triangle choke in the final round... SURELY thinking that he was just merely forfeiting that single round.
(or so he said in a humorous interview)
But this got me thinking... what is the best comeback of all time? Other than my own... apparently.
In this rare instance I'm asking for some audience participation in the comment section under the video. Not in my email inbox... as much as I love you.
If you have a comeback that is better, please find the video and throw a link in there. I'm interested to see what you think.
Few things make me happier than the subversion of fight expectations.
And as always, have a fantastic week!
-Trav
