The Art of Being Smart. It's oft missing and completely independent from the art of punching and kicking people. Yet, it's the ability to think while engaged in combat that will determine the winner in many cases.
As I mentioned at the end of last week's video, identifying a tendency in your opponent's behaviour and movements will allow you set up clean landing power strikes... which is pretty much our primary goal as a fighter.
Here's an unbelievable example of Edson Barbosa capitalizing on an Attack Tendency in his opponent.
Perhaps Barboza watched tape on his opponent's preferred combinations...
Perhaps you only get 2 chances at a combination before he murders you on the third...
It's hard to say, but I'm impressed... that guy thinks on his feet.
Noticing a Defensive Tendency in your opponent is just as handy... especially if you're going to use the technique from last week's video.
In this next video (starring World's Strongest Man: Mariusz Pudzianowski), you'll see that it's not a good idea to constantly float your left hand to the exact same place, every time you react to a combination entry.
Oof.
The 'Hand Tap' Strikes again.
Ackowledging a tendency requires AWARENESS. Awareness is enhanced if you're RELAXED. Relaxation comes from experience whitin combative settings.
So... GET OUT THERE AND SPAR.
It will separate you from the other smarty-pants that you might be facing....
Enjoy your weekend!
