The 4 Laws Of Muscle…
[kmfblbtns blayout=”button_count”]
Building muscle ain’t easy… but the well-condensed tips in this article might make it a little bit easier for you.
Losing muscle is a whole lot easier than building it.
It’s a tragic truth that what we can gain in months of hard work, we can lose in a week of normal ‘slippage’.
Work gets busy. The girlfriend dumps you. You get the flu. Feces strike the fan blades, splattering amongst us all.
These are the times in which a little discipline can preserve the power, or speed, or athleticism that you fought so hard to develop.
…or a little electricity. Luc van Loon, a prolific researcher and extraordinary professor of exercise physiology found that a simple electrical pulse emitted into the quadriceps of bedridden patients completely halted muscle wasting and atrophy.
The unstimulated legs shrunk dramatically…
Use it or lose it. Or if you don’t feel like using it… electrocute it… apparently. You can read more about that here.
It’s incredibly hard to come by any useful information about muscle development these days; pseudoscience is prevalent, and there’s just very little trustworthy information out there.
In fact, it’s been forever since I learned something cool… until a kind gentleman sent me the article linked above.
This guy Luc van Loon has done some extraordinary research… like pumping a cow full of radioactive dye and then feeding it to us performance chasing humans to see exactly where every gram of protein ends up…
So how much of that meal is absorbed? Is that amount effected by the amount of exercise done prior? Is more absorbed if you chew your food really, really well?Beyond that, how many grams of protein should be in your average meal?
All is discussed in this article, titled The Four Laws Of Muscle… and again, I very much enjoyed it.
So, go build some strength… and then keep it. Otherwise, all of our reps are for naught, the first time we slip into a brief coma of laziness.
Have a fantastic weekend!

P.S. Last week I shared some controversial opinions about Nate Diaz and I supported my opinions with video evidence.
Let it be know, I intentionally make my opinions vitriolic and abrasive for the sake of entertainment.
I actually like Nate Diaz. He’s got exceptional Jiu Jitsu, incredible cardio, he can take a wicked punch, and I admire his cojones.
He’s just a sloppy striker… so I made fun of him. When you’re making fun of someone, putting a little sting in your words makes it… funnier. I make fun of my friends. They make fun of me. Fun is had by all.
If that offends you, well, you’re certainly no Nate Diaz.
Unsubscribing is not a punishment to me. I can’t tell you how many times people write salty emails declaring their unsubscription. I DON’T CARE. It’s saving me money. I send out 100,000 emails per week. 99,999 is cheaper.
I just don’t care.
Next week’s newsletter is still going out, and those who aren’t butt-hurt will be graced with one or two new technique series every year until I retire as a martial artist.
If you’re reading this, then you are probably one of the folks who will be there for it. And for that, I am appreciative.
So you have an extra fantastic weekend.
