  1. Man, you’re full of crap! The best thing to do in a knife fight, if you don’t have one, is to put distance or some sort of cover between you and him! Even a martial arts master is more than likely going to get cut in a situation like that!

    • Sure… I’ll hide behind the trash can and watch my 4 year old fight him! “Get him, Rowan! I need more distance and cover!”

      • Indeed mate. You can’t always control the situation. “don’t be there” is great advice until the shit hits the fan.

      • That being said, Rowan looks pretty savage. I’d think twice before taking him on, even if I had a knife

      • Ha ha ha ha.
I’ve only heard how bad a knife attack is, I was not ready for the amount of blood.

Great and useful video as usual. Thanks Trav.

        • Normally there isn’t this much blood. In this case, it appears the carotid artery got slashed. The one merciful thing about that is that he was unconscious before he hit the ground, limiting his suffering.

Still, an absolutely awful way to go out.

      • I know you feel like you needed to say something to that knucklehead. But you have more important things to do. Let the people who know you are for real handle it. Check out. Knucklehead’s comments. Be well brother and keep on trunking

    • Several weeks ago an elderly woman was attacked by a rabid fox on her own property and if her neighbor hadn’t stepped in to help her she states that she thinks the fox might’ve killed her. Watch the video, it’s online and it’s very disturbing. You can’t always put distance between you and a rabid attacker dude. Think about it.

      • What if that elderly woman was looking after her 2 year old grandchild when that rabid fox started attacking?

Would running for cover still be the best course of action, J?

    • Can only hope that your boyfriend, girlfriend, parents, or any family member are not relying on you if they are confronted with some violent threat.

    • Wow, would you prefer to get yourself or your family?
Looks to me that you’re not man enough to defend your family (assuming your family is there during these type of situations, if they aren’t then you’re kinda right but nonetheless).

    • No Tony, his not full of it. Travis has been great over the year’s with his helpful video’s. What have you done that’s so great.. nothing I bet..

    • Sir, have you SEEN how fast the average knife wielding crackhead runs? They’re like slashy gazelles.

Evasion, of course, is great where possible. Trav is, however, in this situation telling you what to do when defence is the most immediate option. You can’t always run. What if you’re backed into a corner? surrounded? His tips are also solid. As long as you keep the inner thigh away from the attacker, the legs can take a LOT of punishment.

    • Kind of hard with your words my man. If you had a chance to see trav knife fighting course, you would see all that you said is in the course and much more. The one thing you did that was on point, was the family going into one of the stores, one with can goods and his family having a plan, like locking themselves in a bathroom while daddy is throwing cans at the gang and the store windows breaking them to get the cops on the location. You don’t have time to explain what is going on.

  2. Trav, Long time, thanks for the cool video,
In my experience the first objective is to deliver a solid full extension side heel kick to his lead knee, Needs to penetrate the meniscus depth by 2 inches. This knife wielder understands his tool. He will perforate your shin and foot if you shoot front snap kicks above his groin. The side thrust is like an anatomical riposte, it will make good contact and injure his knee which means he is already 50% weaker. If you have good contact with the knee shot, you can shoot kick the knee again with a solid round house or use a booted toe snap to chip his patella. There’s more but we are both moving very quickly and I wish you all the best. You look good though.
Chris . I am on Taiwan now, SUPPORT FREEDOM, DENY OPPRESSION

    • The kick can get you in trouble if you show confidence in lining it up, but the big advantage is to put knife guy a bit on defense, so he wont jump in for instant kill as soon as opportunity presents

  3. Loving the no nonsense message. Too many people want to be tough guys but get themselves killed instead of using their brains first and skills second.

  4. Great video and lesson. I appreciate you having the courage to show the brutality of real life fights. Things get ugly in seconds.

  5. Yea, I had seen that awhile back & all I could do is SMDH. Thanks, for caring & being out there helping individuals.

  6. Boomers do have a point about phones. Instead of going to try and help the guy bleeding on the floor or calling an ambulance or something, the guy filming the video just stands there and keeps filming.

  7. Not sure it was a good video as the guy had nothing to defend as the knife guy was backing away. Had he simple kept his distance he would still be here.

So the advice given although valid, should not be how defend, against a knife attack, but how attack or rush a person with a knife and backing up.
